Congratulations to our 2019 Market Champion Hans

We are thrilled to announce Hans Christenson as our 2019 Kansas City Market Champion! Hans will serve as a CMN ambassador for KU Medical Center and will be featured on various campaign materials throughout the year to localize all fundraising efforts for CMN of Kansas City.

Hans was diagnosed with Hirschsprung’s Disease when he was about 2 weeks old. It is a condition that affects newborns in which part of or all of the colon and up to the small intestine does not have ganglion cells (which promote muscle function for bowel movement.) Hans has undergone three surgeries in his short life from confirmation of diagnosis to additional surgeries to help him achieve normal bowel function.

Today, Hans is doing great! He takes a daily antibiotic to help prevent infection from his small intestine and has had a few short hospital stays but always bounces back ferociously! Most exciting is that Hans is exceeding expectations for his growth, which is a terrific milestone. Hans has an infectious personality and his smile lights up any room he walks into. His entire family is excited and ready to share with the community the amazing work that is being done at KU Medical Center on behalf of other sick and injured KC kids.
